Mayor Ed Lee has called for a voter-approved increase to San Francisco's minimum wage, and now a large labor group has thrown its support behind the idea.

The San Francisco Labor Council on Monday voted to approve a resolution in support of a $15 minimum wage in The City, according to a letter from the group's executive director, Tim Paulson.
When the mayor brought up the idea of bringing a proposition to San Francisco voters this year, he mentioned the $15 figure, which fast-food restaurant employees have said should be considered. Lee said that a number of meetings with members of the Board of Supervisors and business groups will be held to figure out a wage that will balance the needs of workers and companies located in The City.
The Labor Council's resolution, though, firmly calls for it and its member unions to join in a campaign for the $15 wage.…
