San Francisco city leaders united Tuesday to call for the re-empowerment of the elected board of trustees overseeing City College of San Francisco.
The Board of Supervisors unanimously passed Supervisor David Campos’ resolution that calls on State Community College Chancellor Brice Harris to restore the board by removing Special Trustee Robert Agrella, who was appointed last year to help turn around the beleaguered institution.
“The resolution sends a very clear message about the importance of restoring democratic decision making at City College,” Campos said.
The vote comes amid a mounting push to do just that among teachers and students. Tensions have increased over the future of the school as exhibited by the March 13 protest where students and the police clashed as protesters tried to enter the school’s administration building, Conlan Hall.…
