A man was shot in the leg during an attempted robbery near the Civic Center BART Station on Sunday, but he didn't realize he'd been shot until Monday, police said.
The 21-year-old victim told police he was walking toward the station at Seventh and Market streets about 10:30 p.m. when a man in his 20s approached and demanded the victim's property at gunpoint, police said. The victim said he hit the gun, causing it to go off and the suspect reportedly fled the scene on foot.
The victim then went home to sleep, police said. When he woke up on Monday he noticed he was shot in the thigh.
He then drove himself to the hospital, police said. His injury is reportedly not life threatening.
