by Rob NagleNidra Stubbs, the woman arrested in connection with the fatal hit-and-run of 82-year-old Oi Yeung, pleaded not guilty to the charges Wednesday, Assistant District Attorney Alex Bastian said.
Stubbs, 31, of San Francisco, faces a felony charge of hit-and-run with an enhancement allegation of causing great bodily harm or death, and a misdemeanor charge of vehicular manslaughter in connection with the March 20 incident in which Yeung was struck and killed in Visitacion Valley.
Stubbs is accused of driving the white Dodge Durango that struck Yeung as she crossed Bayshore Boulevard on a green light. Witnesses said the Durango turned around and looked like it was returning to the scene, but the vehicle continued southbound on Bayshore, passing the crime scene. Police found the vehicle about a week later, and after interviewing the registered owner of the vehicle, were led to Stubbs' residence, where she was arrested.
Stubbs is currently out of custody on $80,000 bail. During court proceedings Wednesday, prosecutors asked the judge that Stubbs' driving privileges be taken away. The defense objected and the judge ruled that Stubbs' driving privileges be restricted instead.
She will return to court May 19 for a prehearing conference, Bastian said.
