A man was arrested Wednesday for setting off a firework in AT&T Park in San Francisco during a Giants game against the Los Angeles Dodgers, police Officer Gordon Shyy said.

The 21-year-old suspect, identified as Paolo Alessio Pavone of San Bruno, threw a firework into a populated walkway in section 142 near the Coors Light bar area of AT&T Park about 9:30 p.m., Shyy said. He was detained by security until police arrived.

At least five people sustained minor injuries that varied from pain, dizziness and temporary hearing loss, Shyy said. They were treated at the scene for their injuries, which were not life threatening.

Pavone was positively identified by multiple witnesses at the scene as the suspect who threw what police believe was an M-80.

He was booked into county jail on charges of suspicion of willful and malicious explosion of a destructive device, reckless or malicious possession of a destructive device and throwing or discharging a firework in a public place, Shyy said.
