A man who was just trying to make sure the trunk of his car was closed was knocked out and carjacked in the Bayview last Thursday, police said Monday.

The 36-year-old victim was driving his car in the area of Bayshore Boulevard and Cortland Avenue about 10 p.m. when he saw the trunk indicator light was on, police said.

He pulled over to check the trunk and an unknown suspect came up from behind him and hit him with an unknown object and knocked the victim unconscious.

When the victim awoke, he noticed his car was missing, police said. He then walked home and reported the incident to police on Sunday.

The vehicle was a silver Infinity 4-door sedan, police said, and it has not been recovered as of Monday.

The victim sustained an injury to his ear and paramedics at the police station reportedly treated it.
