The victim in a fatal hit-and-run in the Mission on Saturday was identified by the Medical Examiner's Office on Monday as 26-year-old Daly City resident Johny William Alonzo-Castillo.

Castillo was driving in the area of Cesar Chavez and Folsom streets about 2:20 a.m. when another vehicle ran a red light and struck Castillo's vehicle, police Officer Albie Esparza said.

Castillo was rushed to the hospital and succumbed to his injuries Sunday afternoon.

The force of the crash sent one of the cars into a third vehicle, leaving that driver with minor injuries.

The vehicle that struck Castillo's car was a black 4-door Infiniti, police said. The driver and multiple passengers from that car fled the scene. One occupant of the suspect vehicle stayed at the scene but police do not believe that person was the driver, Esparza said.

As of Monday afternoon, there were no suspects in custody but the investigation is ongoing, Esparza said. Anyone with information on the incident is encouraged to call police at (415) 575-4444.
