San Francisco police investigated a report of a suspicious device in a home in the Richmond district Wednesday evening, according to a police spokesman.
Police were called to a home on the first block of Beaumont Avenue around 6:30 p.m., according to Officer Gordon Shyy.
Residents in surrounding homes were evacuated and the bomb squad was on the scene, Shyy said.
The bomb squad responded and rendered the device safe, Shyy said. The area is now being reopened to vehicle and pedestrian traffic.
