SFPD: 75 arrests, shooting during first day of Pride

by Kate Conger The San Francisco Police Department announced a total of 75 arrests during Saturday's Pride celebration.

In the Mission, police arrested 30 people for public intoxication. Police also made six felony arrests for assaults and weapons violations. The weapons violations included a knife violation, illegal possession of a firearm, and illegal possession of ammunition or a magazine.

In the department's Northern District, which encompasses upper Market, police arrested 35 people for public intoxication. Police also made four unspecified misdemeanor arrests.

A man was shot and and injured on Market Street near the Tenderloin during the Pride celebration, according to SFPD.

The shooting occurred around 7 p.m., SFPD spokesman Officer Gordon Shyy said.

Police responded and discovered a man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was transported to S.F. General Hospital and is expected to survive, Shyy said.
