According to South San Francisco police, the 50-year-old victim was retrieving personal belongings from the trunk of his rental car at about 12:30 p.m. Monday in the parking lot of the Comfort Inn & Suites in the 100 block of East Grand Avenue.
A suspect approached, simulated having a weapon and told the victim he would be shot if he did not turn over his property. The suspect stole the victim's luggage, iPad, an undisclosed amount of cash, and other personal belongings, police said.
The suspect then allegedly kicked the suspect, causing minor injuries. He fled on foot and was last seen running north on Poletti Way with the victim's property, according to police.
Police described the suspect as a light-skinned black man in his 20s who is 5 feet 10 inches tall with an average build and closely cropped hair. He was wearing khaki-colored shorts and a plain black T-shirt and had large gothic-style crosses tattooed on the inside of each forearm.
Police believe the suspect may have used a black Chevrolet Camaro as a getaway car. The car was seen speeding out of the area immediately following the robbery.
