Police arrived to the scene in the first block of Nichols Way about 9:33 p.m. on calls of shots fired that were detected by the ShotSpotter system. They discovered a 19-year-old man who was wounded in his upper body.
Officers provided aid and called for backup due to the large group of people who were gathering at the scene.
The victim was pronounced dead at the hospital. He was identified on Monday afternoon by the Medical Examiner’s Office as San Francisco resident Latrell Shaw.
The second victim in the shooting was a 27-year-old man. He went to the hospital on his own, and his injuries were not considered life-threatening.
There was no suspect description available Monday afternoon and the investigation is ongoing.
If confirmed as a homicide, it would be the 27th in San Francisco this year.
