by Rob Nagle A woman was assaulted and robbed of her belongings in the Mission district Friday, Officer Albie Esparza said Monday, but the alleged thief was later apprehended and her property was recovered.

The 43-year-old victim was allegedly attacked by 34-year-old San Pablo resident Michael Lewis in the 100 block of San Carlos Street about 10:42 p.m., Esparza said.

Lewis is alleged to have then taken her purse, which contained her phone and wallet, and fled, Esparza said.

Police arrived and Lewis was reportedly still in the area and arrested. The victim’s property was recovered and processed as evidence.

Lewis was booked into County Jail on charges of robbery, assault with a deadly weapon, possession of stolen property and aggravated assault, Esparza said.

The victim sustained bruising to her face and a bloody nose. She was treated at a hospital, but the injuries were not life-threatening.
