A body was found in San Francisco Bay near the Golden Gate Bridge Tuesday morning, fire officials said.
Reports of a body floating in the Bay came in around 7:30 a.m., a fire dispatcher said. As of about 8:30 a.m., crews had recovered the body and taken it on board a city fireboat, which was headed back to shore.
The Coast Guard assisted the Fire Department in recovering the body.
It appears the person, who has not been identified, had been dead for about a week, Coast Guard officials said.
The cause and manner of death is under investigation.
