by Rob Nagle A man was critically injured in a stabbing early Saturday morning in the Tenderloin, according to police.

The 31-year-old victim was walking home with his girlfriend near the intersection of Ellis and Larkin streets about 4:46 a.m. when a man who appeared to be in his 20s began “cat calling” the girlfriend, police said.

The boyfriend confronted the man and they began arguing, police said, before the boyfriend was stabbed multiple times.

The suspect then reportedly fled in a silver sedan, police said.

The victim was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries.

Later that day, a man was killed in the same area.

About 8:24 p.m., 25-year-old Isaac Cruz was stabbed to death near O’Farrell and Larkin streets, police said.

In that incident, police said Cruz was reportedly involved in a fight with five other men when one of them pulled out a knife and stabbed him in the chest.

Cruz died at a hospital.

The suspects in that case are described as men in their 20s and were not arrested.

It is unknown whether the stabbings were related other than happening within a block of each other.
