A woman managed to swipe a diamond ring from a Union Square department store Tuesday and avoid arrest, police said.
The woman entered the store in the 100 block of O’Farrell Street about 5:38 p.m. and asked to see some rings, police said. The woman then grabbed one of the rings and fled to a vehicle waiting outside.
The woman was described as being in her 20s and the getaway vehicle was a black four-door sedan, police said.
Police consider this a case of grand theft, which means the ring is worth more than $950.
