A man was arrested Saturday for reportedly throwing explosives from his pickup truck in South of Market, Officer Gordon Shyy said.
The 45-year-old man, identified by police as Keith Dantonio of Concord, is alleged to have been in his vehicle in the 900 block of Mission Street about 2:08 p.m. when he lit and threw an M80 from his car and drove off, Shyy said. He reportedly did this at a construction site where he works.
He was later apprehended by police, Shyy said, and the bomb squad rendered the scene safe. An additional M80 and the materials to make more were reportedly found in the man's vehicle.
Dantonio was booked on charges of possession of a destructive device, transport of a destructive device and possession of methamphetamine, Shyy said, adding that the man did not appear to be under the influence of drugs.
