In addition to several homicides, there were three nonfatal shootings in The City over a bloody Fourth of July weekend, according to police, and one of the victims remains in critical condition. The first shooting occurred about 3:30 p.m. Thursday in Potrero Hill, police said. A 10-year-old boy and a 32-year-old man were standing on opposite sides of the street in the 900 block of Connecticut Street, police said, when they heard gunfire coming from the hilltop.
The two victims had fled the scene before realizing they had been hit by the gunfire, police said.
The boy was shot in the foot and the man was shot in the thigh and hand, police said. Their injuries were not considered life-threatening.
The victims said they thought the shooter was a man in his 20s who fled the scene on foot and is still at large.
The next shooting occurred Sunday about 20 minutes after midnight in the Bayview district, police said. A 16-year-old boy was standing in front of his residence in the first block of Cameron Way when an unknown suspect opened fire, striking the boy several times, police said.
He remains hospitalized in critical condition, police said.
A bullet also reportedly went into another nearby residence, grazing a 27-year-old woman in the cheek, police said. Her injuries were not considered life-threatening.
The suspect in that shooting reportedly entered a four-door vehicle driven by another suspect and fled the scene. No arrests have been made.
Later Sunday, on the same street where a man was killed Friday, two more victims were shot.
Two men, ages 20 and 19, were in the first block of Harbor Road about 4 p.m. when shots were fired from a passing Gray Nissan, police said.
The two victims were struck by gunfire, one in the face, leg and back and the second in both legs, before the vehicle raced off.
Both were hospitalized, but their injuries are not life-threatening.
No arrests have been made.
