by Rob Nagle A San Francisco man was arrested Saturday in connection with an attempted robbery of a gas station in San Bruno, police said Monday.

Njawa Pendar, 36, was booked into Redwood City County Jail on charges of attempted robbery, according to San Bruno Sgt. Kurt Likins.

Pendar is alleged to have gone into the Valero gas station in the 300 block of East San Bruno Avenue about 5:50 a.m. and simulated that he had a gun in his waistband and demanded cash from the cashier, Likins said.

The cashier said he had just pushed the alarm and the suspect fled. About 7:30 a.m., the cashier saw the suspect return and called police.

Pendar was detained at the scene and police said they found evidence that linked him to the attempted robbery.
