A man was smashed in the face with what may have been a glass bottle in the Tenderloin on Tuesday, Officer Gordon Shyy said.
The 23-year-old victim was in front of a restaurant in the 400 block of Ellis Street about 10:30 p.m. when a man who appeared to be in his 30s walked up and hit the victim in the face, Shyy said.
Upon further investigation, police said he was struck with a glass object of some kind, possibly a bottle.
The suspect, identified as Lloyd Morris, 36, of Emeryville, was booked into County Jail on felony charges of assault with a deadly weapon and battery causing serious injury, Shyy said.
The victim sustained lacerations to his face and was treated at the hospital for his injuries, which were not life-threatening.
